The ALS Awareness Festival & Ice Bucket Challenge is a Challenge2ConquerALS event. For more information about Challenge2ConquerALS go to: www.challenge2conquerals.org.

ALS is a devasting, currently incurable disease that affects more than 30,000 people in the US at any given time. Every 90 minutes someone is diagnosed with ALS. Each year we lose 5000-6000 Americans however, research continues to hopefully bring an end to the disease that took the life of baseball's Ironman, Lou Gehrig in 1941 – over 82 years ago.

The event will be held on August 19, 2023, from 10am-2pm at Breckenridge Brewery, 2920 Brewery Lane, Littleton, CO 80120. We'd like to extend our sincere thanks to Breckenridge Brewery for hosting the event.

In addition to the Festival and Ice Bucket Challenge, Breckenridge Brewery will be hosting their ALES for ALS day. They will donate $1 for every pint sold of the special ALS brew. Proceeds of the ALES for ALS will be donated to ALS TDI.

The fun and informative day will consist of the Denver market screening of Go On Be Brave. A documentary about Andrea Lytle Peet and her amazing accomplishment in 2022.

About Andrea

By 2013, she had run a marathon and done 9 triathlons, including a 70.3-mile half Ironman.
In 8 months, Andrea went from the strongest she had ever been to walking with a cane – Andrea had been diagnosed with ALS, (Lou Gehrig Disease) in May 2014, at the age of 33.

So, what do you do when you're told that you're going to die in the next 2-5 years? That there is no treatment and no cure.

And that before you die, you will lose the ability to walk, talk, move, eat, and breathe?

Andrea and her husband Dave had just bought a house. They were planning to start a family.

Andrea realized is that if there was something she really wanted to do – she needed to put it on her bucket list and do it now.

She bought a recumbent trike and signed up for what would be her "last" triathlon, which became the most extraordinary day of her life as more than a hundred people stayed to cheer her on to the end.

In 2022, 8 years after her ALS diagnosis, Andrea set an aggressive goal. She set out to complete 50 marathons in 50 states on her recumbent bike while suffering from ALS.

On May – 2022 surrounded by her friends and family, on a remote island in Alaska, Andrea became the first person with ALS to do 50 marathons in all 50 states.

Come to the event and meet Andrea in person.
